Johannes! Following the sermon yesterday evening I wanted to tell you what I previously told to Mikuláš the butcher, who bears this letter. I am aware that certain points of the sermon are known by hearsay, other points have actually been heard and in addition other points have been made known through notorious public deeds and this is not just hearsay. It is clear that when the unity agreement was made between the Old and New Towns of Prague shortly thereafter one of the councilmen of the Old Town sent word to Diváček the mint master of Kutná Hora telling him to come, otherwise the city could not be retained for the king on account of the unity within the <add>Prague</add> community. This has been reported by a certain squire. Further, according to that same squire, King Sigismund has ordered that all Wyclifites, of whatever state, are to be killed. If the servants of the king are unable to overcome <add>the heretics</add> by force and power, then they are to do so by deceit. If this cannot be accomplished by deceit then the same can be done through the use of flattering sermons and false promises and that this should be carried out in Plzeň, Písek, Hradec Králové, Klatovy and elsewhere.</p><p>Further, that an official of the Old Town, went through the streets showing a letter and saying, look, the best news we have from our lord the king is that he has abandoned the idea of a crusade against us.</p><p>Likewise on this point, I read one such letter which was intended for some lady from a famous squire and the cousin of the same lady or the lady's nephew wrote in this letter that the king recently sent three missives to Litomeřice in order that they should be compelled to force those who receive the sacrament of the Lord's body under both kinds to renounce this. If they are not inclined to do so then they are to be arrested in person and in property. Additionally, they are to prosecute, in the same way, squires and villagers known to them to be of this persuasion. If they are unable to overpower them <add>heretics</add>, they are entitled to receive assistance from the sub-chamberlain and are to then strangle all such persons. Behold, in addition to the words of the official of the Old Town, I have read the letter addressed to the aforementioned lady.</p><p>This has been written briefly to you, not in the fullest manner, but that can be obtained from the carrier of the letter.</p></translation></chDesc><tenor><nota><transcription>N/A</transcription></nota></tenor><back><listBibl type="print"><bibl>UB I, s. 24–25, č. 17</bibl></listBibl><listBibl type="regesta"><bibl></bibl></listBibl><listBibl type="studies"><bibl>Pekař 1930-III, s. 45–46</bibl><bibl>Pekař 1933-IV, s. 32–33</bibl><bibl>Bartoš 1933, s. 257–259</bibl><bibl>Kejř 1958, s. 27–29</bibl><bibl>Cook 1974, s. 183–191</bibl><bibl>Mezník 1990, s. 239–249</bibl><bibl>Šmahel 1993-III, s. 40–41</bibl><bibl>Šmahel 2002-II, s. 1081</bibl><bibl>Čornej 2019, s. 213</bibl></listBibl><listBibl type="translation"><bibl>Fudge 2002, s. 55–56, č. 22 (angličtina)</bibl></listBibl><listBibl type="facsimilia"><bibl sig="A">N/A</bibl><bibl sig="B">N/A</bibl><bibl sig="C">N/A</bibl></listBibl></back></charter></cei>
