Král Zikmund píše Vilémovi, lantkraběti durynskému a markraběti míšeňskému. Jak se mu doneslo, Vilém již dobře ví, že mnozí páni, rytíři a panoši, ale i obecný lid v Čechách přijali novou víru, a stavějí se tak proti Bohu, svaté církvi, křesťanské víře, králi, jenž je jejich přirozeným dědičným pánem, i proti veškerému řádu. Zikmund se je snažil po dobrém přesvědčit, aby se navrátili k pravé víře, což ale nic nepomohlo; naopak, byli stále více zatvrzelí. Nyní Zikmund osobně s mnohými knížaty, rytíři, panoši a dalšími zbožnými lidmi táhne do Kutné Hory (auf den Berck zu Kutthen) a odtud chce vést tažení proti viklefistům, přičemž doufá, že je s Boží pomocí potlačí a vyhubí. Zikmund připomíná, že se tato věc dotýká celého křesťanstva včetně markraběte Viléma, neboť viklefisté by se snadno mohli rozšířit i do jeho země, pokud by nebyli včas poraženi. Proto Zikmund po Vilémovi se vší naléhavostí požaduje, aby mu – jak to jen bude možné – se svým vojskem přitáhl na pomoc, aby bylo kacířství poraženo a nemohlo se šířit do dalších zemí včetně té Vilémovy. Vilém si tím zaslouží odměnu od Boha, pochvalu od církve i celého křesťanstva a králi tím prokáže obzvláštní službu a náklonnost.

List lze rámcově datovat do dubna, spíše však až do první dekády května 1420. Dle uherského roku vlády (34) by vydání listu nemělo spadat před 31. březen 1420. Skutečnost, že Zikmund vytáhne do Kutné Hory, aby následně potlačil husity, byla aktuální zřejmě až tehdy, když pobýval v Hradci Králové (než dorazil k Hradci, spíše by jako svůj bezprostřední cíl uváděl toto město; jeho konečným cílem byla pak samozřejmě Praha). Pobyt panovníka v Hradci máme doložen od 8. do 10. května (RI XI, č. 4132–4135).

Noble and gracious prince. We have in mind, as probably your grace already has knowledge, the fact that the Bohemian lords together with other knights and vassals along with the common people have adopted a new faith in opposition to God, the holy church, the Christian faith and are opposed to us, as their legitimate and hereditary lord, and to our authority. We have attempted to set them straight again with much effort and with considerable and gracious eagerness but thus far it has, regrettably, done little good. Instead they have become more obstinate and more wicked in their beliefs. Presently we ourselves, together with many princes, knights and vassals, and other pious people, intend to proceed to Kutná Hora to lead a campaign against these same Wyclifites in hopes of suppressing and exterminating them with the help of God. This affair concerns our faith, the whole of Christendom as well as your grace. Additionally, if these people are not subdued in a timely fashion they could easily rise up greater in the land. Therefore we earnestly and urgently desire that your grace would assist us, the holy church and all of Christendom, as soon as possible with your power in dealing with the aforementioned disobedient and contrary Wyclifites so that we might exterminate and eliminate this heresy so that other lands likewise would not be deceived and poisoned by them.
